Very Theater Company Residency and Work in Progress presentation

On September 12th and 13th Very Theater Company will present: Facing Cities XR (working title) a work in progress, together with a selection of VR360 films and projects for art professionals and presenters working in the VR/AR field in the Netherlands (on invitation only). The presentation is an extension on Very Theatre Company being selected and invited to Europe to pitch a new project “Free Ur Head” at Venice Gap Financing Market during the 80th Venice Film Festival, September 1st – 3rd.
Very Theater Company has created several award-winning performances as “In the Mist”, “Emptied Memories” and “Teatime with Me, myself and I” which have been performed and screened internationally: CPH: Dox in 2023, the Venice Film Festival VR Expanded in 2021, Taipei Film Festival in 2021 and winner Prix Panorama of Festival du Nouveau Cinéma de Montréal in 2021.
The latest’s international co-productions include a multiple-year exchange project with WERC and dancers Mohamed Yusuf Boss, and Juersson Hermanus (NL) which started in 2016, the premiere of “The Place Where We Meet (Facing Cities)” in Noorderzon in 2020 partially connected two theatres in Groningen and Taipei through a video meeting. “Chronicle of Light Year” a co-production with Culture Yard in Denmark premiered at Taipei Art Festival and was invited to Ars Electronica Festival, Linz in 2018. Chou Tung-yen
Chou Tung-yen is the founder and creative director of Very Theatre Company & Very Mainstream Studio in Taipei, Taiwan. Centering on theatre and moving images, he makes interdisciplinary works of performance, installation, and music video by blending digital imagery, physical movement, and theatrical elements. Tung-Yen will be our resident from the 11th until the 15th of September.
