Moon Gallery: ISS Launch Party
Join us to celebrate a historic moment when the first art gallery will be launched to the International Space Station. On this occasion, Moon Gallery invites you to join a full-day program of “ISS Launch Party” with an inspiring series of talks, performances, screenings, workshops and even space-food tasting.
A full-day program of “ISS Launch Party” will spread across 4 different rooms of the Felix Meritis, offering a variety of experiences to choose from. You will be presented with an inspiring series of talks and debates, cosmic performances, a carefully selected screening program and even a chance to participate in the space-food tasting.
Moon Gallery curators – Anna Sitnikova and Elizaveta Glukhova – will take you on a journey to discover the story of the art payload flying to the ISS and soon to the Moon. They will share the milestones and the challenges that still lay ahead of this tiny gallery with big ambitions. In a series of talks, followed by a panel discussion, space artists and engineers, space architects, scientists and philosophers will reflect on the course of space exploration and the transformation of its cultural positioning, speculating about our future as an interplanetary society.
During the event, you will have a chance to explore a unique collection of Moon Gallery art. Artists and creators will share their ideas and stories behind individual pieces and their first-hand experience of developing art for space travel. And, of course, you will see the hero of the occasion – a flight backup copy of the original Moon Gallery space payload, that at this very moment will be installed inside of Cygnus NG-17 spacecraft in Wallops Flight Facility, Virginia.
In the second part of the program, we will challenge you to participate in a space pub quiz and invite you to experience the wonders of telescopic stargazing. After a day of intensive immersion in the subject of space, we will round up with live music performances and exchange of ideas with a glass of wine. During this day we wish to bring together and expand our Moon Gallery space explorer community, spark new connections and inspire new collaborations, which, hopefully, you will be a part of! At the end of the day we want to know: What would you want to send to the Moon?
