Felix Skills: Digital Textile Design

Are you a fashion freak or designer and do you enjoy finding new textiles and materials? Or are you involved in slow fashion and making the fashion industry more sustainable? On September 22, you can participate in a workshop by Amsterdam knitting wizard Borre Akkersdijk, co-founder of BYBORRE, during a new Felix Skills workshop. Design your own sustainable textile patterns for future knits and designs!

During Felix Skills: Digital Textile Design, Borre Akkersdijk and Charlie Duong take you into the world of digital fashion design and give you the tools to develop your own pattern. As a leading textile lab, BYBORRE is constantly looking for new ways to make textile development and design as sustainable as possible, because 80 percent of the ecological footprint is created in the design phase. All steps in the design process are considered. What are the most sustainable yarns? What are the most functional? How can they make as few samples as possible?

In this workshop you get a look behind the scenes of the design and manufacturing process of BYBORRE and his knit engineers and you can create your own design with the brand new, high-tech design tool BYBORRE Create™.

Practical Info

This program is English spoken.

You will need to bring your own laptop to log in to the software and participate in the workshop. If you don’t have a laptop, please let us know through info[@]felixmeritis.nl and we can lend you one.

We use the email address you buy your ticket with to pre-setup an account in the software, so you are ready to go when the workshop starts. By buying a ticket for this workshop, you therefore agree to us to using your email address for this purpose (only). Borre Akkersdijk

Borre Akkersdijk has been involved in textile development for over 12 years. In 2015 he co-founded BYBORRE – the Amsterdam based textile innovation studio working on the frontiers of scalable bespoke textile development and production. What started with Borre questioning and rewiring the creative boundaries of circular knitting machines at production sites, grew into a company dedicated to rewiring everything in the production processes of knitted textiles. 

Charlie Duong

Charlie Duong is Digital Product Lead & Senior Designer at BYBORRE.

He’s currently leading the team of digital product designers and engineers building BYBORRE Create™, BYBORRE’s textile design platform to empower and educate conscious creators to sample and produce responsible textiles from the yarn up.

With 7+ years of multidisciplinary design experience, he’s worked with various brands and collaborators on projects in fashion, technology, underground culture, and music. He’s had the opportunity to create digital experiences for the likes of Jordan Brand, Toyota, Lexus, and many more.
