Morpheus invites you into his dreamworld at Felix Meritis for an intimate listening session where harp, cello, keys and voice come together in an immersive soundscape. Experience his debut album, May I Come In?, performed in full for the first time ahead of its release, creating an intimate space for listening, away from the distractions of everyday life.

Morpheus creates a dreamlike world in which gentleness becomes a source of strength. The full album is performed in an intimate, acoustic setting, where Morpheus is joined by harpist Doriene Marselje, whose work explores contemporary music and electronics; pianist and composer Timothy Banchet, who has performed with artists including Benjamin Herman; and Joel Siepmann, principal cellist of the Metropole Orkest.

The album grew from a personal need for refuge. Morpheus:  “I made May I Come In? out of a need to create a place of shelter in a world that often feels harsh and overwhelming. I noticed that I had lost the openness I once had. Every day, I confront myself with an overload of information, news, hatred, war, everything that divides us. The album is about what becomes visible again when you slow down: memories, grief, but also hope and the desire to reconnect. The title is both a question to another person and to myself: may I seek intimacy, and do I dare to truly enter my own inner world? With this album, I want to embrace sensitivity as a form of strength, and the courage it takes to feel deeply and express that openly.”

Line-up

MORPHEUS

Morpheus knows the power of music that pulls you in: songs that feel like a confession, wrapped in cinematic intimacy. Morpheus, the moniker of Martijn Verhagen, made a striking debut with his 2023 EP Morphosis, a raw collection of one-take recordings built around nothing more than piano and voice. Songwriting, to him, is a form of alchemy, turning introspection into something radiant and profound.

His 2024 follow-up, The Ascent, crafted in collaboration with renowned artist and producer Thomas Azier (known for his work with Stromae and Woodkid), expanded his sonic world while staying true to its emotional core. The releases were met with critical praise, earning him a cover story in L’Officiel Turkey and features in Trouw, 3voor12, and Behind the Blinds. His performances have taken him across Europe, sharing the stage with artists like Agnes Obel, Joep Beving, Thomas Azier, Ásgeir, Jay-Jay Johanson, and Kovacs. A sold out first tour in the Netherlands, Belgium and Turkey cemented his reputation as an artist who captivates in both sound and presence, with stops at ESNS 2024 and 2025, as well as festivals like Best Kept Secret.

His debut album is now finished and set to release early 2027. What comes next remains wrapped in mystery, but one thing is certain: it won’t let go easily.

Joel Siepman | Joel Siepmann is a cellist, composer and arranger, and principal cellist of the Metropole Orkest. As a member of cello quartet Metrocelli, he explores the instrument’s versatility.

Timothy Banchet | Timothy Banchet is a pianist, keyboardist, composer and producer whose work spans jazz, film and theatre. He has performed with artists including Roy Hargrove, Benjamin Herman, as well as the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw.

Doriene Marselje | Harpist Doriene Marselje explores contemporary music and electronics. She performs across Europe as a soloist and in multidisciplinary collaborations, expanding the possibilities of her instrument through new compositions and live effects
